Fertility Treatments
The desire to have a child is an exciting and natural phase for every couple. But very often fertility problems come in the way of fulfilling this dream. Today numerous infertility treatment options are available for couples, giving them the chance to become parents. However in the course of fertility treatment, many couples become emotionally and financially drained out after a series of initial failures. Hence it is crucial to understand that fertility treatment involves a great many ups and downs and couples have to brace themselves to face not only the financial implication of going in for infertility treatment but also navigate a tight schedule of tests and treatments.
At East Bay Fertility Center we initiate fertility treatment with a number of mandatory tests to diagnose the causes of infertility. Based on the results of these tests we conclude which of the partners has a problem and needs to start fertility treatment since infertility can be attributed to the male or to the female or both.
Fertility Treatment for Females
- Ovulating Problems: Medicinal treatment may be recommended for ovulation problems that are directed at stimulating the ovaries to release eggs. This would result in improving chances of pregnancy. But the medication often increases chances of having twins or triplets.
- Unexplained infertility. The steps for treating unexplained infertility are more or less the same as for women who have ovulation problems. As a next step, hormone injections can be tried out. The ultimate diagnostic test in some case will be IVF which can determine egg quality and egg-sperm interaction and embryo quality.
- Blocked or damaged tubes. Experienced doctors at East Bay Fertility Center perform tests to check the fallopian tubes, as blocked or damaged tubes can prevent the egg from being fertilized by the sperm. Tubal surgery is recommended for such blockage.
- Endometriosis: If endometriosis seems to be the reason for infertility, laparoscopic surgery can be performed to remove endometrial tissue growth.
- In vitro fertilization (IVF). IVF is the most common form of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). In IVF, the sperm is mixed with the eggs in a lab. Sometimes donor sperm or donor eggs may be used.
- Adoption: Some couples consider adoption as a better option than spending their resources on IVF treatment.
Fertility Treatment for Males
- Semen Analysis: done to check the quality of the sperm and the sperm count. At East Bay Fertility Center insemination procedure is also followed wherein the sperm are collected and then concentrated to increase the number of healthy sperm for insemination.
- Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI): During this fertility treatment the doctor injects sperm into the partner’s egg. If fertilization occurs, the doctor transfers the embryo into the partner's uterus, just as in vitro fertilization (IVF).
